Arsenal is expressing concern over Leandro Trossard’s injury ahead of tonight’s pre-season match against Barcelona. The young talent suffered a knock during Arsenal’s 5-0 victory against an MLS All Stars team last week, leading to his early withdrawal after 56 minutes. As a result, he also missed the subsequent match against Manchester United.
Gunners manager Mikel Arteta addressed the situation, saying, “He got a knock, and obviously we don’t want to take any risks at this stage. He had some pain, but I don’t expect it to be anything significant.”
Meanwhile, Oleksandr Zinchenko has been on the sidelines since suffering a calf injury during the last season’s run-in. The versatile defender returned to training on Monday, gradually working his way back to full fitness.
Zinchenko aims to be fit for the start of the Premier League season, which is just over two weeks away. Consequently, he will not be risked in the friendly match against LaLiga champions Barcelona in Los Angeles.
As Arsenal prepares to face Barcelona, their pre-season has been a mixed bag of results, including a draw of 1-1 with Nurnberg, a convincing 5-0 victory against an MLS All Stars XI, and a 2-0 loss to rivals Manchester United.
While Barcelona has confirmed their starting lineup, Arsenal’s XI remains to be announced. However, Trossard’s fitness is now a doubt for the upcoming match. On the other hand, Zinchenko’s gradual recovery remains a priority as Arsenal strives to ensure his availability for the start of the Premier League season.
